Dear Chairman and Commissioners,
My name is Declan Doe, and I'm a student from Louisiana writing to share my thoughts on the Advance Notice of Proposed Rulemaking on Prediction Markets, as published in 91 FR 12516. I've used prediction markets a few times, and while I have strong reservations about how they've been marketed and the culture around them, I still believe they serve ZERO PURPOSE. I'm particularly concerned about ensuring that regular people dont fall victim to the false glorification that these websites provide.
Kalshi attempted to draft an AI letter for me, and likely millions of others, in hopes of lobbying the CFTC to avoid regulation. This should not go on.
Ill be honest, Im not a fan of how some companies have turned prediction markets into what feels like glorified gambling for young folks, hyping up a sense of adventure that doesnt always match reality. It bothers me to see platforms pushing this on people who might not fully grasp the risks.
Do not allow Kalshi to continue exploiting young men who have no other outlets for work, pleasure, and adventure.
Again, how is this an unbiased comment if Kalshis website solicited and drafted a majority of the comments? The answer: it is not, and they should be investigated for that first, and then their illegal bid rigging and addictive nature.
