Predictive markets in their current incarnations absolutely need to be strictly regulated. They are demonstrably just gambling; and the way that they function currently leaves them vulnerable to manipulation not only of the bets themselves, but also events in the actual world. If we do not do something to regulate these entities, there will be dire real-world consequences sooner or later.
