Prediction Markets need to be restricted from engaging in predictive betting as relating to matters of diplomatic, political, or national security measures. These markets if allowed to persist in matters of public policy, actively incentivize corrupt, illegal, immoral, and/or unethical behaviors that jeopardize the security of the country, its people, and its future. We do not make laws, rules, or policies on the hopes of people rising to a standard, but on the assumption that a baseline of acceptable behavior must be enforced.
Gambling on matters of public security, policy, or diplomacy, enables foreign governments to sway or affect policy-makers decisions through provision of bribes- promoting corruption. Failure to address these monumental gaps in public security is tantamount to an implicit consent on the behalf of the commission to jeopardize the health and safety of the public in the name of providing policy makers with the incentive to undermine our democratic values and governance structures.
