Prediction markets are absolutely gambling and are using flimsy arguments to try and get around common sense. They blatantly encourage insider trading and are becoming a dangerous influence on public opinion by pretending to be a fair indicator of public perception while being easily influenced with money. They should absolutely be regulated and should be forced to disclose any and all influence from both supporters and from both third party interests and hired gamblers who use their systems. Disclosures should be within the app where the average user can and WILL see them. To do anything less is robbery of people who perceive these markets to be fun and casual gaming and can fall victim to gambling addiction, to schemes from those with insider information and to propaganda in the form of these manipulated displays of "public opinion."
