Prediction markets are gambling on reality. Which actually makes them *worse* than gambling, because it provides an avenue for events to be fixed with further-ranging consequences than on a sports event. It's very easy to game the system in a prediction market and to force desired events into happening. It's predatory towards poor people and only seeks to make the rich richer.
At *minimum*, prediction markets need to be regulated like sports gambling. *Preferably*, gambling markets should be banned entirely. If we allow prediction markets to persist, *especially* with minimal regulation, we will actively make the world the worse place for everyone, and this will only embolden warmongers, genocide merchants, and the 1% to screw everyone else for the sake of their enrichment.
