I think prediction markets and apps that monetize every single outcome such as Kalshi and Polymarket are the absolute worst thing to happen to society. These apps worsen betting addicitons, are completely unregulated and susceptible to insider manipulation, and basically capitalize on pessimism. If someone sadly thinks a fascist will win an election, and they place money on it in spite of their disdain for said fascist, they're less likely to vote at all. Those on the fence may even vote for the candidate they'd otherwise be less likely to vote for if they had money on it. It doesn't genuinely represent anything other than the endstate of capitalism and the government should place extremely heavy regulations on these apps, if not straight up ban them altogether.
