Prediction markets should not be allowed to exist. They've already been shown to degrade the care for the well-being of our fellow people. People shouldn't be thinking about how a tragedy occuring can fill their pockets. Reporters shouldn't get death threats for reporting events. Gambling is a serious addiction and prediction markets make it easier for people to gamble right at home.
A few hours before the first coordinated attacks accross Iran the odds of Khamenei leaving sharply rose from less than 25% to over 50% on polymarket. It's alarming that it appears our rich and powerful are allowed to get richer using information they could have even had a hand in deciding.
