Predication markets represent a negative impact on American and global society as a platform for profiting from war, death, massacres, and catastrophes. The ability for individuals and organizations to put money for or against an event that causes danger, harm, or disturbance to others represents a potential encouragement of those events to occur. This should not be allowed in our society.
The existing platforms encourage this negative behavior further by giving those with unique knowledge and/or ability the opportunity to profit from that knowledge/ability directly. This is an existential threat to people as those who hold control over major government and corporate entities could use their power to disrupt the system they operate within for their own personal benefit with little interference or recourse.
