Prediction markets are, by any reasonable measure, gambling, and ought to be regulated as such, especially when gambling addition is so prevalent.
However, they also often create conflicts of interest far more serious than prior gambling conflicts of interest within sports and other games, incentivizing people to in part or in whole reveal trade secrets or national security secrets. Prediction markets advertise this "insider knowledge" reveal as a benefit, but there's a very good reason these things are meant to stay secret. Any bets that would easily be influenced by insider knowledge shouldn't be allowed, period.
