Prediction markets should be regulated the same as gambling, and gambling, for that matter, should not be permitted outside of designated businesses like casinos where operators can cut off addicts, or in extremely small cases like friends betting pennies on a casual game of poker in a private residence. Gambling apps on phones only make risking one's financial well being at the click of a button, and leaves addicts completely at the mercy of the people profiting from their addiction.
Allowing people to gamble on all things, including death and destruction, incentivizes people to root for and possibly even enable death or destruction in order to profit from it. Additionally, it is highly susceptible to insider information, creating massive conflicts of interest. It is somehow a less fair and more destructive form of gambling, which is already a pretty personally destructive and addicting pastime.
