I am unfamiliar with any sort of style or wording on a comment form such as this so I will attempt to simply be straight forward.
I have watched state lotteries creep into public life along with sports betting, Indian and online casinos, and now prediction markets and other forms of gambling. In almost every society in human history gambling has been considered a human vise for a host of religious, practical, and other, reasons. As far as I know, no good has come from such gambling, no matter the name that is given it. Schools and public services are still struggling despite promises and campaigns of support from state lotteries, and actual lottery winners are often stories of ruined lives, not to mention the pervasive advertising.
Suffice it to say that although some limited gambling may bring some variety and energy to society this continued and pervasive normalization of gambling in all its forms cannot be good. I urge authorities to heavily regulate or simply ban this new form of an age-old vise now being presented as "Prediction Markets".
